Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What makes your approach more successful from other “learning styles”  programs?

A:  Our approach involves “getting to the root” of the problem.  We believe that most challenges to learning are the result of problems in the way the brain processes information and that the underlying processing difficulty(ies) must be identified in order to the teach or train the necessary actions that follow that process.  Our approach involves locating the source of the problem and then using therapy techniques and learning activities to enhance the neurological networking needed to learn that desired skill.

Q:  How long will the program take?

A:  This is a difficult question to answer because all children are different and all children respond at varying speeds.  A basic rule of thumb is the milder the underlying problems, the shorter amount of time it will take to complete the recommend program(s). Based on each individual child, the recommendations made may be the completion of one program or a process of several programs combined in part or in whole.  In our own practice, we see changes in some children very quickly, while others progress at a slower and more gradual pace.  It is quite interesting when one observes the “light-bulb came on” phenomenon.  This happens when a child works so hard and one appears to see so little outcome, but then all of a sudden the child just starts clicking!   This is very exciting.

Q:  Will I be equipped to provide my child the help he/she needs?

A:   The Therapy Group was formed for just this specific reason – to help parents help their children in their particular struggles.  We know and understand that children do not always work as well for their own parents as they do for other people.  However, we have worked hard to provide parents with all the tools and assistance they will need to provide the programs their children need.  We have developed teaching videos, handouts, and various material links that will be recommended on a case-by-case basis to assist parents in program implementation.  Suggestions for reward and reinforcement systems are also included in the contact package.  We do recognize, however, that there may be some situations that children and parents do not work well enough together to achieve desired program goals.  In those cases, we recommend hiring a friend, neighbor, or capable college student to go through training requirements to then work with the child.  We are confident that the results that you and your child will achieve will far outweigh the struggles in the process.

Q:  How much will this program cost?

A:  This, too, will be variable from situation to situation depending on the severity of problem(s).  Some children will need more specific intervention than others, therefore a cost cannot be definitely established until the child’s profile is completed and the process of intervention is initiated.  As therapists that have provided these same services to children in outpatient clinics, we can assure you that the costs to you in a clinical setting would be thousands of dollars.  The goal of The Therapy Group is to provide the knowledge we have acquired and make available the necessary tools to as many families as we can in order to positively effect the lives of children.  Therefore, we have formulated a system to bring help to struggling learners for a fraction of the cost of going to a clinic.  A consulting fee of $99.95 will supply the parent recommendations for each child after analysis of their learning strengthens and weaknesses.  The programs and/or tools needed will be available for purchase or lease to accommodate each need.
